Growth habit: Evergreen tree which grows to 4 m, the crown tends to be compact and rounded (globose).

Leaves:Simple, petiolated, leathery, dark green, the blade is ovate with entire or finely crenate margin. They are 8-14 cm long and 4-10 cm wide. The lower surface is paler.

Flowers: Strongly scented hermaphrodite blossom. The corolla has 5 white or violet-white petals and 15-60 stamens. The ovary is compound with 8-15 cells. Each cell contains 4-8 ovules. The blossom is remontant.

Fruit: Ovate or rounded, diameter ranges from 8-12 cm.. They are 20-30 cm long, weigh 300-600 gr and are yellow when ripe. They are eatable, have a characteristic intense fragrance, a very thick peel, little no juicy pulp..

Branches: Flexible and spiny. Young branches have green stripes, older branches have green-brown stripes.

Climate: This plant grows in temperate climates with temperature not below -3°C. It does not like being exposed to the wind (especially to cold winds)

Ground: Citron tree likes loose middle texture soils (the plant cannot stand water stagnation), deep, with plenty organic materials and a pH of 6,5-7,5. This plant does not like salty, chalky or heavy clay soils.
Origin
The Citron Tree originates in India and Indochina. It was already known in Roman times.
